Try a BHAG! You may finish while always having tried

Updated: Feb 9, 2020

BHAG! Big-Hairy-Audacious-Goal! I have selected one each year for the past, however long I can remember. The reason I subject myself to a challenge each year is that sometimes I succeed, while always having tried.

My 2019 BHAG! was a physical challenge that changed me physically and emotionally. The self-imposed challenge was to bring awareness to and overcome the stigmatism associated with Burpees. You may be amongst the "everyone" who hates Burpees, but let's acknowledge that nearly every exercise has a component of a Burpee and if you combine every foundational exercise, in a specific combination, it becomes a Burpee.

My Burpee BHAG! was measured by 2 inputs –To Showcase 365 unique modalities of Burpees and complete an aggregate of 1 Burpee for each day of the year, i.e. On day 150 I would complete 150 Burpees and on day 151 is would complete 151 – so on and so forth. I made it to Day 186, having completed upward of 34,000 Burpees, then BLAM! bulging disc and pinched nerve in my neck ended my BHAG! because I moved by neck incorrectly while doing my Burpees that day.

Once I recover from this malady the Burpee BHAG! will be there waiting for me, and I look forward to its completion. “If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit.” says Banksy and that is what I plan to do with my 2019 BHAG.

The time is 2020, the year to draw upon the clarity of personal experience through hindsight and look with vision toward a bountiful future.

My 2020 BHAG! Play 200 games of With 1 Word and post 2 buffed out With 1 Word story monthly via written Blog. First blog finished!

What's your BHAG!? You may finish while always having tried.

What is With 1 Word®

Writing for speaking and writing for reading are on opposite sides of the same communication coin. The disconnect is that reading is mono-dimensional while speaking is dynamic. Yet we tend to sit down
